Horizon Europe Proposal Development Session Held at WIUT During Erasmus+ Week 2026
On 5 May, Westminster International University in Tashkent hosted the session “From Call Text to Competitive Proposal – Understanding Calls, Evaluation & Proposal Writing” as part of Erasmus+ Week 2026, dedicated to Horizon Europe Proposal Development.

The event brought together researchers, academic staff, and project developers from across Uzbekistan to strengthen institutional capacity and expand engagement with the European Union’s flagship research and innovation programme - Horizon Europe.
The session featured distinguished speakers:
• Dr. Alisher Pulatov, Dean of SOLTE at WIUT
• Christos Marazopoulos, First Counsellor and Head of Cooperation, European Union Delegation to Uzbekistan
• Jahongir Gafurov, National Contact Point (NCP) and Deputy Rector of University of Innovation Technologies
• Mattia Ceracchi, Head of Brussels Unit/ GSF/ARPE Expert

Participants gained a practice-oriented understanding of Horizon Europe proposal development, with discussions focused on:
• interpreting call texts and expected outcomes;
• aligning proposals with key evaluation criteria (Excellence, Impact, and Implementation);
• identifying common proposal weaknesses and challenges;
• positioning innovative project ideas for upcoming 2026 funding calls, including Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions and Horizon Europe Cluster opportunities.
The session served as an important platform for fostering international collaboration, enhancing proposal-writing competencies, and supporting Uzbekistan’s growing participation in European research and innovation initiatives.
