The article provides a detailed analysis of the role of the Erasmus+ programme in fostering regional cooperation in Central Asia, with particular focus on Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) projects. It highlights the outcomes of joint initiatives implemented with higher education institutions from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, as well as the active and leading participation of Uzbek universities.

  • Erasmus+ CBHE projects contribute significantly to the modernisation of higher education systems in Central Asia;

  • Between 2014–2025, Uzbekistan participated in 69 CBHE projects, becoming one of the regional leaders;

  • According to 2025 results, Uzbekistan is participating as Grant Holder (coordinator) in 4 CBHE projects;

  • Regional projects enhance education quality, academic cooperation, green development, and digital and innovative skills;

  • Erasmus+ projects foster a sustainable cooperation ecosystem among ministries, universities, and the non-governmental sector.
