International Erasmus+ conference "Perspectives of Higher Education Development in Uzbekistan" overview

On December 20, an annual conference of Higher Education Reform Experts (HERE) titled "Prospects for the Development of Higher Education in Uzbekistan" was held, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of cooperation between the European Union and Uzbekistan in the field of higher education under the Tempus (1994-2014) and Erasmus+ (2014-2027) programmes.

The international conference, held at the National Research University "TIIAME," was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Erasmus+ National Offices of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan and their HERE experts, Erasmus+ project coordinators, participants of the Tempus project, representatives of the leadership of the National Research University, professors, teachers, doctoral students and students.

At the opening of the event, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Kongratboy Sharipov congratulated the guests on the 30th anniversary of cooperation.

"I should note that within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme, 2024 has been very meaningful and productive for us. With the participation of higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan, 5 CBHE projects were selected by the European Union for financing, including 2 national and 2 regional projects. I sincerely congratulate all higher education institutions participating in these projects," the minister said.

 

His Excellency Mr. Toivo Klaar, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Uzbekistan, also took part in the opening remarks of the event.

After that, the distinguished guests and experts from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan shared their opinions.

 

The conference aimed to increase the effectiveness of higher education by exchanging experience, effective methods, achievements, trends and problems. The event also aimed to summarize the activities of the Higher Education Reform Experts (HERE) in 2024 and stimulate regional cooperation.

Within the framework of the conference, a traditional scientific and educational forum "Introduction to Scientific Information and Publishing Activities" was held with the support of HERE and a number of academic publishers. In accordance with the conference programme, discussions were held at such sessions as "Priority areas for strengthening regional cooperation within the framework of ERASMUS+," "Activity in the use and publication of scientific information, international credit mobility: its role in improving the quality of education and scientific research."

During the conference, the next No 16-2024(2) of the peer-reviewed scientific and methodological journal of Uzbekistan Higher Education Reform Experts “PERSPECTIVES OF HIGHER EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT” was presented.
