8th Annual event of Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM)
On December 20, 2024, the Annual Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM) event was held within the framework of the International Erasmus+ Conference titled "Perspectives of Higher Education Development in Uzbekistan." This conference marked the 30th anniversary of fruitful cooperation between the European Union and Uzbekistan in higher education under the Tempus (1994–2014) and Erasmus+ (2014–2024) programmes.
Organized by Higher Education Reform Experts (HEREs) and ICM beneficiaries, the event featured the session "Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility: Role in Improving Quality of Education and Scientific Research." The proceedings, including insightful papers from ICM beneficiaries, are now available on the National Erasmus+ Office (NEO) website.
A Regional Gathering of Experts
The conference welcomed distinguished delegations from the National Erasmus+ Offices and HEREs of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan as honorable guests and speakers.
The primary goal of the event was to promote the principles of the Bologna Process and strengthen bilateral mobility between higher education institutions (HEIs) in Uzbekistan and the European Union. Discussions also emphasized the internationalization of higher education in Uzbekistan.
Key Objectives of the Conference
The conference objectives included:
- Sharing knowledge and experiences gained during Erasmus+ mobility and applying these outcomes in Uzbekistan.
- Examining best practices in organizing mobility and establishing recognition mechanisms for short-term studies at European universities.
- Exploring experiences in credit mobility to lay the groundwork for joint curricula and faculties with partner universities in Europe.

The conference featured an impressive array of presentations by renowned professors, young researchers, and students. They shared their personal and professional experiences with credit mobility, showcasing tangible results of their academic and research endeavors.
Through the Erasmus+ credit mobility programme, Uzbekistan has strengthened relationships with leading European universities, enabling two-way exchanges of students and teachers. This cooperation has expanded opportunities for practical training both in Europe and Uzbekistan, contributing to the overall development of higher education in the region.
