Erasmus+ Activities (Erasmus+ Brief) in Uzbekistan – 2025 Updates

The Erasmus+ programme plays a key role in modernizing Uzbekistan’s higher education system.
Since 2015, 98 universities across the country have participated, significantly expanding opportunities for international cooperation.
Key results include:

CBHE Projects: From 2015–2024, a total of 63 projects were funded. Of these, 43 have been completed, 20 are still ongoing, and 7 projects are now coordinated directly by Uzbek universities.

International Credit Mobility (ICM): Since 2015, more than 3,000 students and staff have taken part in exchanges. Between 2021–2024, Uzbekistan achieved the highest result in Central Asia, with 39% of regional mobilities carried out by Uzbek universities.

Erasmus Mundus: To date, 127 Uzbek students have won scholarships to pursue Master’s studies in Europe.

Jean Monnet: 17 projects have been implemented in Uzbekistan, with 2 Centers of Excellence (at UWED and TSUE) continuing their activities.
In 2024, the 30th anniversary of EU–Uzbekistan cooperation within the Erasmus+ and Tempus programmes was celebrated. At the international conference in Tashkent, important recommendations were adopted to further strengthen regional cooperation.
