First EU-Central Asia Connectivity Conference
November 18, 2022: The first European Union - Central Asia Сonnectivity Conference: Global Gateway for Sustainable Development took place in the historical center of the Great Silk Road - the city of Samarkand, which since ancient times has been one of the key political, trade, economic, scientific and cultural centers of the world, playing the role of a platform for interregional interaction.
The issues on the development of cooperation in transport, digitalization, energy, water resources and environment included in the agenda of the conference were in line with the priorities of the Development Strategies of the Central Asian states and the European Union’s Global Gateway Strategy.
17 November, The European Union, together with its partners UNICEF and European Training Foundation (ETF) has hosted a youth dialogue for young people from Central Asia, on the sidelines of the EU-Central Asia Connectivity Conference. The youth dialogue created the platform to amplify the voices of young people from five Central Asian countries – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan to discuss on the key conference themes.
Two representatives of the Erasmus+ community of Uzbekistan took part in the EU-Central Asia Connectivity Conference: Fotima Saydullaeva, the Head of International Cooperation Department Samarkand branch of Tashkent State University of Economics and Aziza Abdurakhmanova, the Head of the National Erasmus+ Office in Uzbekistan.
Erasmus+ programme was mentioned in the Joint press statement by H.E. Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and H.E. Mr. Charles Michel, President of the European Council: "The parties underscored the importance of deepening cooperation in the field of education and science, including thorough exploiting the potential of the "Erasmus+" and "Horizon Europe" programs. The parties welcomed the implementation of the first regional project of vocational education “Darya” (NEO website).
