EMINReM Erasmus+ Project Concludes with Final Coordination Meeting and International Conference at Satbayev University
The final coordination meeting and international conference of the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) project EMINReM – Master Programme in Eco-Mining and Innovative Natural Resources Management were successfully held at Satbayev University in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from 11 to 15 May 2026.
The event brought together representatives of higher education institutions and industrial partners from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Germany, Spain, and Türkiye to review the achievements of the project and discuss the future development of sustainable engineering education and international cooperation in the field of mining and natural resource management.
Over the past three years, the EMINReM project has focused on modernizing master's degree programmes in eco-mining and innovative natural resource management by aligning curricula with European standards and addressing the evolving needs of the mining industry. The project has promoted interdisciplinary education by integrating engineering, environmental sustainability, digital technologies, and management competencies into academic programmes.
During the opening session, project representatives highlighted the significant outcomes achieved through the Erasmus+ initiative. Partner universities successfully updated their master's curricula, developed innovative teaching materials, introduced digital learning solutions, upgraded laboratories with modern equipment, and strengthened the professional capacities of academic staff through international training and mobility activities.

The conference also served as a platform for exchanging experiences on the digital transformation of the mining sector, sustainable use of natural resources, environmental protection, and the future of engineering education. Participants discussed current challenges facing the industry, opportunities for university-industry cooperation, and the importance of preparing highly qualified specialists capable of addressing global sustainability challenges.
The programme included plenary and thematic sessions covering digital technologies in mining, ecological solutions, land reclamation, innovative educational approaches, and research collaboration. Participants also had the opportunity to visit modern laboratories and research facilities at Satbayev University.
The successful completion of the EMINReM project demonstrates the valuable impact of the Erasmus+ Programme in strengthening international academic cooperation, improving the quality of higher education, and supporting the modernization of engineering education across partner countries. The project also contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to Quality Education (SDG 4), Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9), and Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12).
The National Erasmus+ Office in Uzbekistan congratulates all consortium partners on the successful completion of the EMINReM project and acknowledges their commitment to advancing innovation, sustainability, and excellence in higher education through international cooperation.
