Values in Higher Education: Global Dialogue and Exchange of Experience

On 2–3 June 2026, the international online seminar “Values in Higher Education: Challenges, Practices and Perspectives” was held within the framework of the Erasmus+ SPHERE initiative. The event brought together Higher Education Reform Experts (HEREs) from Central Asia, the Eastern Partnership countries, the Western Balkans, and the Southern Mediterranean region.

•  Over the course of two days, participants discussed:
•  academic freedom and university autonomy;
•  academic integrity and ethical principles;
•  inclusion, equality, and diversity;
•  strengthening democratic values in higher education;
•  the role of values in international cooperation.

During the seminar, experts from Europe and partner countries shared experiences and good practices in promoting and safeguarding core values within higher education systems. Participants were also introduced to European-level tools for monitoring academic freedom and institutional autonomy.

The seminar served as an important platform for dialogue, allowing participants to exchange perspectives, discuss common challenges, and explore ways to strengthen values-based higher education and future cooperation.
