Step-by-Step to EMJM: Step 4 — What Documents Do You Need to Apply?

Ready to apply for an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) program? Let’s go through the main documents that are typically required. While each program may differ slightly, here’s what most of them will ask for 👇

1. Passport

Make sure it’s valid during the application process (and beyond!).

2. Diploma and Transcript

Bachelor’s degree diploma and transcript of records (officially translated into English if required).

3. Motivation Letter

Why do you want to join this program? What are your academic and career goals?

4. Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Use the EUROPASS format if requested. Keep it clear and professional.

5. Proof of English Proficiency

Usually IELTS, TOEFL, or other internationally recognized certificates.

(Some programs may accept proof of English from your university — always check!)

6. Recommendation Letters

Usually 2 letters from academic or professional references.

7. Other documents (if required):

– Portfolio (for creative programs)

– Proof of work experience

– National ID

– Declaration forms (downloadable from program website)

Important tips:

  • Each program has its own document list — read the instructions carefully on their website
  • Prepare early, especially if you need to take a language test or get official translations
  • File names matter! Save documents with clear titles like: Name_CV.pdf, Name_Transcript.pdf, etc.
