The Delegation of the European Union in Uzbekistan visited Urganch State University

The Delegation headed by the Ambassador of the European Union in Uzbekistan, Charlotte Adriaen, visited Urganch State University as part of the visit to the Khorezm region. The distinguished guests were warmly welcomed by the administration of the university.

The meeting was held with the participation of representatives of the EU Delegation led by Ambassador Charlotte Adriaen: Head of Cooperation Department, First Counselor Wim Riepma, Political Affairs Officer Thomas Huet, Cooperation Department Officer Paulina Lenik, Cooperation Department Project Manager Akmal Rustamov and Rector of Urganch State University Bahrom Abdullayev and a group of officials, as well as Khorezm region deputy governor Botir Saidov and representatives of the governorate regarding cooperation prospects.

At the meeting, Rector B.Abdullayev introduced the current activities of Urganch State University, in particular, educational activities, scientific potential, and international cooperation relations. It was noted that there are currently more than 120 cooperation memorandum with 36 countries. Special attention was paid to the works carried out within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme.

It should be noted that currently 8 modern laboratories have been established at the university within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme. More than 400 professors and teachers went to foreign higher education institutions and returned after improving their qualifications. In the same way, qualified professors and teachers from prestigious foreign universities were involved in the educational process. Erasmus+ projects within the framework of this programme make a great contribution to the further development of the quality of education.

Such promising results pleased Ambassador Charlotte Adriaen and representatives of the delegation. They expressed their desire to further strengthen these cooperative relations. It was also mentioned that Erasmus+ has doubled its budget for the next 7 years, which is very important for the development of science and the EU is always ready to support cooperation. Strengthening the exchange of Uzbek and European teachers was also noted at the meeting.
