Аннотация

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly transforming healthcare delivery, clinical decision-making and health system governance. However, the safety and effectiveness of AI implementation depend not only on technological infrastructure but also on workforce preparedness and institutional capacity. This conceptual study explores the role of medical universities in Uzbekistan in developing competencies required for responsible AI adoption in clinical practice, healthcare management and public health. Drawing on international literature, policy frameworks and national academic discourse, the paper proposes a conceptual model explaining how educational interventions influence professional readiness for safe AI integration. The analysis highlights persistent competency gaps, the mediating role of universities in shaping professional attitudes and broader system-level implications of AI literacy programmes. The study argues that competency-oriented educational strategies aligned with national digital health reforms may support sustainable innovation while preserving professional accountability and patient safety.
